Today sidebar

Stability: stable (org-extensions-stability)

A narrow window at the side of the tab that keeps today in view:

The actions sidebar_toggle (<prefix>Vs), sidebar_open and
sidebar_close. Its sections (sections, in this order by default):
  clock   the running clock: the task, the time clocked and, with an
          Effort, a bar of the time against it (error colour once over).
          With the org-extensions-pomodoro extension on, the pomodoro's
          phase and when it ends ("🍅 work until 10:25 (2)")
  next    the next timed entry of today still to come, with a countdown
  today   today's timed entries (the past ones dimmed), deadlines due
          within deadline_days (the overdue ones first) and scheduled
          entries, from the agenda files, as in the day agenda, and the
          events of today from the extra agenda sources, such as the
          calendars of the org-extensions-ics extension (◇ for all-day
          ones; they have no heading to open)
  habits  the habits due today
  inbox   the number of top-level entries not DONE in inbox_file
          (default: default_notes_file)

It is redrawn every interval seconds while it is open (the timer stops when it closes), when an agenda file or the inbox is written or changed, and when a clock, TODO state or pomodoro phase changes. A redraw collects the agenda again only when an agenda file changed (or the day did), so a tick costs little even with hundreds of agenda files; an error in one is reported once. In an editor too narrow for width, it takes what is left after a narrow window. The window keeps its width (winfixwidth, and winfixbuf where Neovim has it), has no numbers, sign column or status line text, and opening it leaves the cursor where it was unless focus is set. Toggling it in another tab moves it there.
